Yesterday, our department went through another round of exits. This is the 3rd round this year (or should I say these 2 months). Though the boss has reassured that this will be the last round this year. Many staff are concerned and worried. Morale is not great. Being responsible for people engagement for the department, I found it hard to bring myself to brainstorm for Year End celebration ideas with the current exercise. Will also be losing a staff end of the year. While I am pretty much prepared my heart and team for the new changes. It is still a sad situation to lose a staff. Hope the economy will change for the better soon.

2010 - A New Beginning
It's 2010! The new year dawns a new beginning for Piggy's Little Shop. I was just deep in thoughts in the cab on the way back home today from a hard day's work. What do I need to do more for my shop in 2010? Here's what I have come up with...- Planning - More planning definitely required this year... past year has been more impromptu.
- Blog - Definitely blog more and setup a consistent and structured schedule (e.g. giveaways & finds)
- Marketing - explore other channels of marketing (e.g. cross & blogs) and come up with a marketing plan (campaigns & launches) by month.
- Consistent - revamp my name cards, banners, avatar, photos to have a consistent look.
So look out for exciting & latest activities from Piggy's Little Shop!

Are you Angry?
Have you ever been angry in your whole life? What do you do to keep yourself calm, how do you manage angry? How do you react when you are angry? Are you the "IN YOUR FACE" type of person or the cold war type of person?I was really angry today at work. I guess it was more frustrated more than anything. I was upset that I was "pushed" to come up with more deliverables when the management does not know the confusion or uncertainty that we have on the ground which causes some deliverables to be meaningless or unnecessary. I guess alot of times, the management tends to see things from a million miles above that they couldn't care less for technical and minute details which on the ground may be a stumble block or an issue to overcome.
I was so angry today to the point of being spiteful in emails. I am not the "IN YOUR FACE" type of person when it comes to expressing my anger. I tend to keep it within me and internalise it and just vent it to someone or God in my shower.
Today, I thought about whether I am happy in the job and whether God place me in that situation for a reason whether it is to mold me to be a better person.. I donno... but it is something to ponder and pray about tonight...
What do you do when you are angry?

Mixture Feelings : Commercial Supplies

I was using the Time Machine 2 today to check out what are some of the recent items that were sold... I stumbled upon some ribbons that look awfully familiar. After clicking on the item and checking out the Etsy seller's supplies shop, I realised that these items were bought from Daiso. Daiso is a Japanese chain of livingware shops often known as the $2 shop (SGD2) in Singapore or the 100 yen shop in Japan. Naturally, the items were priced alot higher. Having realised this, I had mixed feelings...
On one hand, I guess this is no different from selling beads as supplies that were bought from another local bead shop. And maybe these supplies will be useful to people from other parts of the world who do not have access to such items.
However, on the other extreme, it can also mean that I can basically resell anything commercially made stationary that will can be use for crafting. This even include pencils, erasers, tapes, letterpads, notepads etc.
Hmm.. I am torn.. what do you think?

Chinese (Lunar) New Year

It's CNY Day 2 and I will be having some friends over today to play mahjong... (not gambling!)
Personally I feel that as I grow older and being married, Chinese New Year does not seem as much fun as I was younger. Maybe because I do not get red packets anymore (I got married!). Chinese New Year becomes another public holiday in my calendar and I get 2 days off work in a row. *Yippee*.
On the upside, during the festive season, we will take this chance to get together, hang out and catch up with old friends that we have not met for a long time..
What did you do on Your Chinese New Year holiday?

Not Enough Time

Do you always have the feeling that you are always running out of time and there is just so much to do and you have no time?
That's how I feel at work these days. Things are just piling up and you get a boss who does not care what you do as long as he does not get a nasty or enquiry email from someone above or next door (next department). All he can think about is building his empire.. basically have a great post, hire heaps of people but not sure what these folks are going to do...
Anyway, I feel that I am constantly running out of time, before I knew it the day is over and I get bugged by my hubby to get off work earlier and stop making him wait. If only I have more time and if only I do not have to work.. and if only I have a change of boss.. if only I stay at home and be on etsy the whole day... if only if only....
